The good news is that by laminating your work can literally save it for a hundred years or more!
At Not Just A Copy Shop we want to help you be sure that your precious documents are safe!
What Is Lamination?
Lamination is bonding a clear plastic onto printed items, normally on both sides. A laminated item is totally wrapped in plastic, and so they are protected from threats including smudges, abrasions, scratches, stains, wrinkles, rips, moisture, and other external threats to your printed items. Lamination also makes printed items stronger and more rigid.
Fuji invented the lamination process many decades ago. As Fuji lamination film is still the best quality laminate in the world, it is the only lamination material used at Not Just A Copy Shop.
We can laminate things as small as business cards and as large as oversized posters. Almost anything that can be printed can be laminated, and if you have any questions about what can be laminated, just send along your enquiry and we will get back to you directly!
Why Laminate
Protection, of course.
Lamination takes away much of the worry of damage. This protection is particularly useful in tropical climates. Lamination can protect your prints from the damage caused by humidity or immersion, including mould and fungus.
Similarly, lamination can keep prints from damage caused by harmful Ultra Violet (UV) rays. UV rays can affect and damage the colour and contrast of prints.
Lamination also protects your prints from airborne contaminants and liquids in general.
Lamination increases the durability of print materials, allowing them to withstand frequent use.
Lamination adds protection against fingerprints and smudges, stains and spills, tears and wrinkles, marks and abrasions, plus oil, grease, dirt, moisture and other contaminants.
Lamination improves appearance by enhancing the ink colours of the printed piece. This creates a more professional look and holds attention longer.
Lamination adds strength and stiffness, providing an impression of higher quality and importance.
Lamination is completely transparent and does not impair or blemish your print job.
Lamination is quite economical. Because lamination increases the lifespan of print materials, it saves money on reprinting.
Cleaning a laminated print can be done almost effortlessly. Simply wipe off dirt, dust, smudges and grease using a damp cloth or water. This saves people from the worry of cleaning their prints and damaging them in the process.

Lamination Options
The laminate can be glossy or matte, but glossy is more common and thus less expensive. In addition, laminated pieces can be made with square or rounded corners and can also have eyelets installed in them for hanging from a hook, nylon tie, or beaded chain.
Lamination film is usually measured in mil thicknesses. One mil is equal to .001” or 1/1000ths of an inch (a mil is not the same as a millimeter). Hence, a lamination film measuring 3 mil would be .003” thick and a film measuring 10 mil would be .010” thick. If you need your printed piece to be rigid, one tip that can generally save you money is to use a heavy cardstock to print on and then apply a thinner laminate film, as opposed to printing on thinner paper and using a thicker laminate film. If in doubt, tell your Not Just A Copy Shop representative what your desired result is and then he can price it out with the method most economical for you.
